Lenovo has finally released its online-only sub-brand ZUK, which had last year made its debut in the Chinese market. As per the latest updates, this device is now available in India - the launch happened today, May 10, 2016.
Priced at Rs. 13,499, the device is going to be available during its first flash sale at 2pm on May 19 through Amazon India. The registrations of the same started on May 10.
The major highlight this new smartphone is its capability to run Cyanogen OS 12.1 based Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. This feature enables the phone to be customized as per individual needs.
Specifications
Interestingly, the all new Lenovo Zuk Z1 begs to differ from the current range of Lenovo devices as it looks nothing like them. The smartphone has a complete new design to flaunt which is quite appealing and striking too. At the front it is ruled by a fantabulous 5.5-inch display and also has a glass that extends to its frame. Its rear panel is a little curved, which apparently offers you a tough grip.
However, the back side seems to have a plastic feel but as stated, it is non-removable. The device flaunts the Zuk logo at the back.
Lenovo Zuk Z1 smartphone sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz along with Adreno 330 graphics. It also has a 3GB of RAM and comes decked with 64GB of inbuilt storage; however, it doesn't give you the option of storage expansion.
Another prominent trait of the device is its battery – it comes with a large 4100mAh battery. It supports a dual-SIM phone that can run two Nano-SIM cards. Both of the SIM cards will offer you 4G LTE connectivity, Indian LTE bands - FDD Band 3 (1800MHz) as well as TDD Band 40 (2300MHz).
It is to note that Lenovo ZUK Z1's features were already revealed before the release of the device. The launch platform was used for the purpose of disclosing its price along with the availability detail.
With its amazing price at offering, the device will give elite performers like Micromax YU Yutopia, OnePlus 2 and Asus Zenfone 2, a run for their money.
Other Features
Moving on to the camera part, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS). Just to bring into your attention, this is one feature which is normally seen in the high-end elite smartphones only. For selfies, it comes equipped with an 8-MP camera. The device weighs nearly 175 grams and measures 155.7x77.3x8.9mm.
Moreover, it has the fingerprint scanner placed at the home button. Following the suit as of its previous handsets, this one also sports USB Type-C 3.0 port. Zuk Z1 offers connectivity on Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, and Glonass. It also has accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, digital compass (magnetometer), and proximity sensor.
Final Thoughts
Given the fact that Zuk Z1 was released in China for CNY 1,799 (just about Rs. 18,250), the India price was earlier expected to be somewhere same. But with the final launch, it's now clear that it will be available for Rs. 13,499, which is surely a decent price for the features and specifications it has.
In short, Lenovo Zuk Z1's design and built certainly looks above excellence and the device feels fairly strong as well. Weighing 175 grams, it surely appears to be a little heavy as the screen size is just 5.5 inch. But it is comfortable to hold and provides a grip too.
We can only give the final verdict once we get to lay hands on its detailed specification and performance. So, stay tuned to know if it's worth investing!
