It's a big feat for Reliance as its home-grown brand Lyf has turned to be the 5th largest smartphone selling brand in the country. The Lyf handsets are said to be sold by 1.2 lakh retailers and after tasting success with offline sale, Reliance is now interested in selling the devices online as well.
And for the same, the company is eying for a tie up with ecommerce giants - Snapdeal and Flipkart. It is notable that Reliance had come up with Lyf Water 5, a five-inch device, previously in this month which is now being sold on Amazon. If you haven't yet booked the latest Lyf Water 5, it's time you know what the smartphone has in store for you.
Lyf Water 5: Features & Specifications
Lyf Water 5 is a budget smartphone and follows the legacy of other Lyf series as launched earlier by Reliance Digital. Water 5 falls in the price range of Rs. 11,699, which apparently makes it a strong competitor of few smartphones priced below 13k. This range includes Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note, and more.
Simply at 7.7mm, Water 5 appears pretty thin and weighs nearly 136 grams. It has a plastic build and is only available in black colour and for now, it is available for purchase on the website of Amazon India only.
Coming to the display, this device flaunts a 5-inch IPS screen backed by a 1280 x 720p resolution. To protect the surface of the handset, it comes covered by Asahi Dragontrail glass. It is supported by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz SoC – it is noteworthy that this 1.2GHz SoC has been in place for pretty some time and we got to see it last in 2015 Moto G smartphone. Talking of memory and storage, Lyf offers 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage, which you can easily expand further via microSD card. As for connectivity, Lyf Water 5 like all other previous Reliance Lyf devices, backs 4G LTE along with VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and provides you with a hybrid dual-SIM setup.
Next we move on to the most important aspect of a smartphone – the camera. Needless to say, users are more inclined towards devices which offer them a good picture quality, courtesy the craze for photo sharing options on the various social media platforms. In Water 5, you get a front camera with 5MP and a rear camera with 13MP. It is yet to been how precise the cameras work and if they offer eligte picture quality. The device has a 2920mAh battery which as per Reliance offers 15 hours of talk time or nearly 5 hours of HD video playing.
Lyf Smartphones: The Journey So Far
It is highly notable that though the Reliance's Lyf smartphones are touted as mid range phones, but they indeed have succeeded in offering excellent features. All of its series offer 4G network connectivity- which is a feat in itself as even the renowned of smartphones lack this latest feature.
As per reports Reliance is eying a large clientele with its Jio 4G network, their future marketing would be set around getting customers to join the new network.
So far the devices have performed well and the company is extremely elated with the wonderful response they've bagged from every quarter. This is what they're now keen on expanding its online sales network. With every user buying the Lyf series, the company aims at getting a probable customer for their soon to be launched Jio network. And given the fact that most smartphones are sold online, Reliance now wants to reach out to a wider user base by building business relation with the likes of Flipkart and Snapdeal.
Let's see how things materialize and when we get to see Reliance unveiling its Jio 4G network!
