Vivo, tagged as one of the top five smartphone makes in the world, has seen a magnificent growth over the recent years. Having come a long way since its startup in, 2009, the Chinese smartphone has now come out with its latest offering V3 and V3Max, costing Rs. 17,980 and Rs. 23,980 respectively.
V3 is a more decent and cost-effective phone than V3Max; however the latter has more to offer in terms of performance as well as specifications.
Let us understand Vivo V3Max in detail and see what this smartphone has to offer.
Look and feel
The Vivo V3Max has a 5.5-inch screen and weighs 168g. Though slim in appearance, the phone certainly has some largeness. It has a complete metal body with kind of a dull finish at back and along the sides.
At the front, there is a small Vivo logo in the top corner which is a signature touch of Vivo. The front camera and proximity sensor are also present at the top while the capacitive Android keys are placed at the bottom. However, the keys aren't backlit which makes it impossible to use them in dark.
Power and volume buttons are at the right side and in the left you'll find a hybrid SIM tray. The main SIM slot takes a Micro-SIM, while the second one takes either microSD card for expansion of storage or a Nano-SIM for dual-SIM connectivity.
It has a full-HD IPS LCD display, with 401ppi density. It's very sharp, and also reasonably bright to be viewed under dazzling sunlight. Black levels are satisfactory for such an IPS LCD screen, and colors also are vibrant and precise.
Specs & Software
The device is supported by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, which is clocked at 1.8GHz for four cores and 1.4GHz for the remaining four. It has 4GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage that is expandable by up to 128GB.
It comes with a 3000mAh battery, offers USB OTG support with an adapter, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity with A2DP, and 4G on both of its SIMs. The device runs Android 5.1, with Vivo's conventional FunTouch OS 2.5.
Camera
If you talk of camera, then the device has 13-MP rear camera backed by single-tone LED flash, and 8-MP front camera. Both the camera can record videos up to 1080p resolution, and take different photo as well as video modes like panorama, HDR and slow motion.
The device's camera has been designed to look like that of iOS. This camera can easily capture moving objects. If you take pictures in low light, they may lose the vitality in color, but as far as the sharpness is concerned it may remain same.
Performance
It certainly excels in terms of performance and offers a wonderful show. The good RAM amount allows the phone to run multiple apps simultaneously without really affecting the phone's speed. If used ordinarily, the phone runs for a whole day while playing videos in a loop, it lasts for nearly 10-11 hours. Again, it completely depends on how you use it. Playing too much of games or working on heavy sites can cause the battery to drain out quickly.
Judgment
If we look at the price bracket, then Vivo V3Max is indeed a great phone. The outer appearance is great and it comes with quick and precise fingerprint sensor, a good quality screen plus outstanding performance. The battery life is also good, though the camera quality gets bad when it comes to color vibrancy but in all, the phone performs really well.
However, given the certain drawbacks it has, Vivo should lower the price. But if you want to own an Android smartphone that feels like iOS, Vivo V3Max is an option to consider.
