Mumbai, 1 April, 2016: Designer duo Sonam & Paras Modi of the label "SVA" have been making waves in India with their garments that are inspired by tradition and yet have a global resonance. After wowing their fans with their last collection inspired by the rich culture of Morocco, Sonam & Paras now unveil yet another line up of creations inspired by Moroccan architecture at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016.
Showstopper BhumiPednekar looked stunning as she walked the ramp wearing a Sandstone embellished bespoke lantern lehenga with handcrafted bustier and jacket.
Mahal En Maroc was showcased earlier this year at the prestigious Who's Next trade show in Paris.
With the famed Hasan II mosque in Casablanca offering design inspiration, the collection follows a romantic traveller's heart with soft flowing silhouettes and dreamy drapes. The designs and motifs from the historic tiles and minarets are translated into prints, intricate embroideries & exquisite hand woven fabrics by the designers, in a look that breathtakingly merges history with fashion.
Easy flowing lehengas, summery crop tops and layered jackets dominate this collection. For menswear too, the concept is light draped kurtas, printed dhotis & jackets.
Balancing traditionalism with modern silhouettes is the key for this season's weddings. Brides and grooms are looking to mix things up and experiment with silhouettes.Keeping the embroidery minimal, a rich focus on bespoke handwoven ensembles are a special highlight.
