India’s freedom fighter, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was popularly known as the ‘Iron man’ of India. India was and will always be grateful for his role in freedom struggle and on his death anniversary the Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to him.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 66th death anniversary saying that the whole country was grateful for his role in “freedom struggle’ and decisive leadership.”
In a tweet, Modi said, “Tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his Punya Tithi (death anniversary). India is grateful to him for his role in freedom struggle and decisive leadership.”
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875 in Nadiad, a small village in Gujarat. He was also known as the “Iron Man” of India. He died on December 15, 1950 after suffering a heart attack in Mumbai.
Sardar was conferred with the highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, in 1991 for his great services to the nation.
Earlier, to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a world’s largest statue of him has to be made which will be 182 metres located in the Indian state of Gujarat. The statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was named as Statue of Unity.
This project was first established by the Gujarat government and then by Central government. The Central government launched this programme and collected iron across the country and now the statue is in under construction.
