The Sopore gunfight between security forces and militants was erupted after a security forces got a tip-off of militants hiding in a building. The security forces after that cordoned off the area and carried out search operations.
The security forces gunned down a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Pakistani national Abu Bakar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The security forces followed the tip-off about the presence of militants and after that they carried out the operations. No casualties were recorded in this operation.
According to police, security forces launched a massive operation by following specific operation about the presence of LeT north Kashmir Chief Abu Bakar in a house in Bomai area of Sopore.
A senior police officer said, “When the security forces closed in on the house where the LeT commander was hiding, they came under heavy gunfire, which was returned and the encounter started. Abu Bakar was killed in this encounter.”
He further said, “the security forces did not suffer any casualty in this operation. The house being used as a bunker by the hiding militant commander was damaged following heavy firing.”
The security forces described the killing of the LeT commander as their major success in the fight against militancy in the Valley. Authorities have suspended mobile phone services in Sopore and some other parts of Baramulla district as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of rumours.
After the surgical strike done by Indian security forces, militants are attacking and holing up in the valley. The security forces continuously searching the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir by carrying out search operations.
