After the implementation of new currency in India, people were facing hardship in getting new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 as they stand in long queues outside banks and ATMs whereas some individuals have unaccounted cash in new currency.
The Goa police seized Rs 24 Lakh in new currency notes, mostly in Rs 2,000 denomination, at the beach village of Calangute.
According to a police spokesperson who said that the seizure was made from three local residents, whose names have not been officially released yet. The distance of Calangute is 20 Km away from Panaji.
Following a tip-off, the raid conducted by officials from the Calangute police station.
The spokesperson also said, “the cash was seized in a car in Calangute village. The Income Tax department in Goa has been informed about the seizure and they will be conducting further investigations.”
PM Modi government’s move of demonetisation was to clean Indian economy from black economy due to which new currency was introduced in the country.
But some cases were filed against some individuals who carried much amount of new currency and they have no details about that from where they got that money.
