New Delhi, January 16, 2016: The last two day of the Star Sports Premier Badminton League gave its fans a huge treat as everyone got to watch the real baddies fighting it out at the all important semi-final matches. While Awadhe Warriors and Chennai Smashers crashed out of the League paving way for Delhi Acers and Mumbai Rockets, what needs a mention is that the finalists did not have an easy time beating their individual opponents. Having passed the semi-final test the real test for the Delhi Acers and Mumbai Rockets is tomorrow when they meet each other at the Finale in New Delhi and fight it out for the Title of the Star Sports Premier Badminton League.
Both the teams have shown that they are a tough team to crack and on any given day they can give the opponents a run for their money. But what might lurk in their minds is the League phase when both the teams had met. While it was a bad day for Mumbai Rockets were they lost the tie 0-5 to the Acers, but they will not take the past result as a confirmation of a win or a loss.
While the Trump will again play a huge role tomorrow and both will look at not going wrong there as this would cost them the League.
It might not come as a surprise if the Acers place their faith in their Men's Singles players as their performance has been the talk of the town in the entire League. Be it Rajiv Ouseph, Ajay Jayaram or Tommy Sugiarto, all three have been the actual Trump for the Acers and who will go out to win yet another match for their team. While Tommy Sugiarto already played a Trump match in the semi-final clash where he beat Brice Leverdez of Chennai Smashers and as per the rule he cannot be fielded for the same again.
On the other hand the Mumbai Rockets Doubles team has proved how strong they are and the way they can fight back from any situation has been commendable. One can't forget the match against the Awadhe Warriors yesterday when Bodin and Cai seemed to be in a comfortable position and all set to take the final game and the match but what jolted everyone was the fight back Vladimir and Boe showcased as they went on to snatch the match away from the opponents which in a way was a huge turning point in the Tie.
So both the teams have their share of talent and surprises which they will aim at playing it to their advantage tomorrow and win the Title. So, what is on the cards is another round of delightful, nerve-wrecking, action packed Badminton in the Finals of the Star Sports Premier Badminton League.
Speaking on the Finals, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta, President BAI and Chairman PBL said “I think the team who keeps its cool will come out with flying colours tomorrow. It's very hard to choose who will be your favourite for the title as both the teams have huge talent and world class players. I will wish both the team’s good luck and may the best team win tomorrow.”
