Mumbai, 26th August 2015: If fashion weeks were to convey words of social importance Simrat Sindhu's label 'Chiria' presented at Jabong Stage during Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015, went Green with her collection named “Shakti” deriving its roots from Mother Nature, which celebrated the grace of free spiritedness and strength within oneself.
Simrat showcased an ethnic array of garments with wisps of bohemia, strength of structure and lightness of being. Her bespoke collection, regal in form, emerged as liberated, yet rooted deep within the seekers of the unconventional.
The designer intrinsically hand crafted the accessories for her collection by using natural stones and wires in shapes of lotus flowers and evil eye patterns. Handmade teak wood cuffs with jute cords and Trishul charms were a striking highlight. She made use of indigenous, raw fabrics like organic Jute, amalgamated with metal alloys and stones throughout her line.
The models strutted down the ramp in hushed earthy tones of Marsala, charcoal, brown and blue. The silhouettes included shift dresses, peplum tops, pencil skirts and jumpsuits beautifully amalgamated with bold, gold jewellery. The one eye-catching garment was the Marsala peplum top with a gathered long skirt.
Simrat Sindhu's version of the 'India modern' story, hit the bulls eye with traditional silhouettes and embroidery, which can be rethought to meet the requirements of today's well-travelled couture clients.
A brand designed for the growing Indian market, Simrat Sandhu's “Shakti” collection for her 'Chiria' label made the audience forget the demure dupatta forever and adored her neo stories. Her collection was filled with incredible iridescent sheer, prismatic festival lights and aristocratic embroidery for the free spirited woman of today.
