We have to be quick in the opponents D and score on the opportunities: SV Sunil

New Delhi, Tue, 11 Aug 2015 NI Wire

11 August 2015, New Delhi: The Indian Men Hockey team playing the ongoing Europe Tour will be meeting Spain for the second time tomorrow. Both the team's first clash resulted in Spain taking the match 4-1. While India lost the match there were positive takeaways for the Oltmans coached Indian team. The players managed to keep constant pressure on the opponents, while creating scoring opportunities for themselves. But what did not work in the team's favor was cashing on the opportunities and which resulted in putting pressure on the defence as they worked on keeping the opponents at bay.

The team for tomorrow has their work cut out and will aim to win the match and keep the series alive. To make this happen the team will need to yet again put the opponents under pressure by attacking the opponents D and even capitalizing on any scoring chance.

Speaking post the match yesterday Roelant Oltmans, Director, High Performance and Indian Men Chief Coach stated “While it was a tough match we still had our opportunities to score. This is learning for us and we will work on this for the next match. The team is aiming to turn it around as this is a very confident unit”.

Commenting on the next match, SV Sunil said “We did a few mistakes in the match against them but we are aware that we are a very strong team and we can bounce back. This loss will not deter us in our determination and for tomorrow the aim is to cash on the opportunities. For the next match the key will be our passes in the opponents D and our reaction time. We have to be quick in capitalising and not allow them easy possession of ball”.
