New Delhi: The 10th India Habitat Film festival on 8th day screened film like Retro Hindustani Hindi directed by Shankar, Manipuri movie Pallefam directed by Wanglen Khundongbam, Bengali movie Chatushkone directed by Srijit Mukherji, Tamil movie Madras directed by Pa Ranjith and Hindi movie Chachi 420 directed by Kamal Haasan.
Movie Chachi 420 is a 1997 Hindi film, a remake of the Tamil film Avvai Shanmughi and was the first film directed by Kamal Haasan who also starred as the main character. Kamal Hasan, Tabu, Om Puri, Johnny Walker, Paresh Rawal, Rajendranath Zutshi, Ayesha Jhulka, Nassar and Baby Sana had done a remarkable job in this film.
Movie Hindustani Indian vigilante film directed by Shankar and produced by A. M. Rathnam. The film stars Kamal Haasan in dual roles with Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Sukanya and Goundamani appearing in other pivotal roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by A. R. Rahman, while cinematography was handled by Jeeva.
Bengali movie Chatushkone is a journey of self-realisation, a journey of tying the loose ends of old strings...Former friends come together to relive their old days, some with a desire for vengeance, and some simply to escape the monotony of life. In a way, Chatushkone is a journey of introspection; it is the song of life.
Also an exhibition titled ' Rhythm, Raga and Melody' in collaboration with National Film Archive of India, Pune at the Convention Centre Foyer,IHC showcasing exhibition of around 90 films posters highlights the contribution of music in Hindi Cinema.
Habitat Film Festival is on till 17th May, 2015 at the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Celebrating its 10th year, the Festival this year has an increased number of screenings and an interaction with actor / director post the screening but still the biggest attraction is the retrospective with the unparalleled master of his craft - Kamal Haasan.
One of the highly anticipated and most loved events of the Habitat cultural calendar, the film festival showcases the Best of Pan-Indian Cinema from the past year, this year it has 48 films in 13 languages. The Festival began on 8th May with Shonali Bose's highly acclaimed Margarita With A Straw and Teen Kahon (Bengali) directed by Bauddhayan Mukherji. Fresh and innovative storylines, stunning cinematography, veteran actors and directors, rising stars and award winning performances of 2014-2015 are all an integral part of the Festival apart from 19 National Award Winning Films.
