New Delhi, 1 April 2015: With the Hawke's Bay Cup scheduled to start from 11th April 2015 and with the team announced for the all important tournament, the Indian womens team looks all set to take on the upcoming clash. The training session which commenced on 22nd March and will conclude on 7th April, the squad is working on their strengths and rectifying the mistakes which will help them gear up for the all important tournament.
All set to play their first match against China on the 11th April 2015, the India Women team are well aware of their last encounter at the Asian Games and are working on beating the opponents this time around.
Recently adjudged the Asunta Lakra Award for Upcoming Player of the Year (Women - Under 21) 2014 in the inaugural edition of the Hockey India Annual Awards, Namita Toppo said "Discipline will be the key for the upcoming challenge. The teams are strong and we aim to keep it simple and play as per our strength. The team is growing in confidence and this is because of our understanding what the other team is planning and we immediately adapt the game plan. This helps in time not getting wasted, not loosing possession and outwitting the opponents".
Talking on Namita Toppo, Captain for the team Ritu Rani said "She adds strength to the midfield position and gives the required support to both the forwards as well as defenders. She is growing with each game and works on her loopholes very seriously."
