Jamia Millia Islamia signed a Memo of Understanding (MoU) with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) for skill development of its students and youth in its neighbourhood. The MoU will enable Jamia to assess the industry needs and requirements, standardize training of its stakeholders as per national occupational standards, rationalize job roles through focus curriculum development and make quality certification. This agreement will facilitate placement of students and youth from the neighbourhood through industry communication.
Jamia in association with TSSC will create digital content in respect of telecom industry and exploit multimedia platforms for its dissemination. The TSSC will eventually enable Jamia to develop a multi-skill centre and an infrastructure lab for hands-on and virtual training of stakeholders both from the organized and unorganized sectors.
The Outreach Programme of Jamia Millia Islamia, Mass Communication Research Centre, Centre for Information Technology, Placement Office and Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society will work together with TSSC for the skill development of its students and economic empowerment of women living in its neighbourhood through formation of Self-Help Groups and establishment of Skill-Centres.
The TSSC is based in New Delhi and acts through Lt. General Dr. S.P. Kochhar, CEO.
