World No. 4 Rafael Nadal on Sunday defeated Milos Raonic in the Men's Single final of Rogers Cup 2013 in Montreal. Nadal took only one hour eight minutes to defeat the 22-year-old.
In Women's Single, it was Serena Williams who clinched her third Rogers Cup title be defeating Sorana Cirstea by 6-2, 6-0 in just 65 minutes.
Jelena Jankovic and Katarina Srebotnik defeated Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke by 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 to capture the women's doubles title while A. Peya and B. Soares defeated C. Fleming and A. Murray by 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to win Men's dounles.
Milos Raonic is the first Canadian in 55 years to reach the final of Rogers Cup. Though he was no match to Nadal, he showed much promise for the future.
It was Nadal's 58th career WTA title and eighth title of the year. Rafael also praised his opponent in a post match interview saying the young holds a great future and just needs some practice.
With this win Serena Williams is now just behind Monica Seles and Chris Evert, who both have four Rogers Cup titles.
In a post match interview Williams said, "For me, this is a big tournament. This is one of the big stops of the year".
The victory was also Williams' 54th career WTA title and eighth title of the year.
"I feel like I have played a lot of tennis this year, although I don't think I have overdone it," said Williams. "I feel like I have played key tournaments, played well in those tournaments."
Rafael Nadal received US $3.49 million while Williams received US $ 426,000.
All eyes are now on US Open, which begins in two week's time.
