In a recent turn of events in IPL 2013 spot fixing case, Bombay High Court on Tuesday declared the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) two-member probe panel illegal and unconstitutional.
Court has ordered the board to set up a fresh probe panel.
BCCI two-member panel had earlier given a clean chit to Chennai Super Kings team principal Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra in the betting and spot-fixing case.
Former Tamil Nadu High Court judges T. Jayaram Chouta and R. Balasubramanian were asked to conduct an internal investigation.
BCCI had suspended both Meiyappan, son-in-law of board president N. Srinivasan, and Kundra till the report clears their name.
Panel submitted its report to the Working Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Kolkata on Sunday.
This made way for Srinivasan, who had stepped aside in June ahead of the investigation, to return as the BCCI president.
But with recent order of the judge the report submitted by panel is null and void and dealys the return of Srinivasan.
