The son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan, Gurunath Meiyappan and actor Vindoo Dara Singh, son of late Dara Singh were granted bail by a courting Mumbai on Tuesday in connection with their involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting and spot-fixing case.
Both of them were the bail for an amount of Rs.25,000 and have been asked not to leave the country and deposit their passports to the concerned authorities.
Moreover, both the accused have also been asked to visit the Mumbai Crime Branch Office at least twice a week.
Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested on May 24 for his participation in illegal betting on the IPL which is the subject of multiple police investigations.
Earlier, BCCI had announced that a three-member inquiry commission would investigate spot-fixing and betting allegations against the arrested players and also Meiyappan, who has been arrested by the police over charges of betting in IPL matches.
Three players S. Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila of Rajasthan Royals team as well as over a dozen of bookies have been arrested so far on suspicion of spot-fixing in the IPL matches.
Moreover, Chavan was granted conditional bail till June 6 following his wedding by a Delhi Court.
