Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday was ordered for a 14-day-long judicial remand by an anti-terrorist court in Rawalpindi in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
Earlier last week, Musharraf was sent on a physical remand by the court. Musharraf was under questioning by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) investigator in the high profile murder probe since then, reports The Dawn.
Moreover, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi had rejected the plea for reconstitution of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) put forward by Musharraf.
Benazir Bhutto, former prime minister, Pakistan was assassinated outside Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh on December 27, 2007 during the rule of Musharraf. She was killed after addressing an election campaign rally in the city.
The ATC had indicted Musharraf in the case in February 2011, and in August the same year he was declared a proclaimed offender and his property was attached because of his absence.
The military ruler returned to Pakistan on March 24 after a gap of about four years after of self-imposed exile to contest the May 11 general election. But his candidature was cancelled by the election officials derailing his attempts to regain a place in politics by standing at the polls.
