Star cast: Aditya Roy Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, Shaad Randhawa and Mahesh Thakur
Director: Mohit Suri
The much sought sequel of 90's cult musical hit 'Aashiqui', Mohit Suri directorial Aashiqui 2 starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles has releaed across the country this Friday.
Though, there were many expectations with Aashiqui 2 but the movie offered too less to continue the magic of the earlier version. The story of the movie is much inspired from Amitabh Bacchhan and Jaya Bacchhan's 1972 musical blockbuster 'Abhimaan' where Rahul Jaykar or RJ (Aditya Roy Kapur) is a rockstar always indulged in drinking and brooding without any reason. He remains frustrated, drives drunken and behaves self-destructive. In the meanwhile, he meets a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice Arohi Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor) and falls in love with her innocence, beauty and voice. He decides to make her the next singing star and succeeds to do so against all odds. The things get worse after that when insecurity of existence among musician comes in between their relationship. The clash of ego even gets worse with the story until RJ can't take it anymore and finally makes a choice that frees him.
Though, the story is nice but could have been presented in a better way. The actors have played their part well but not very impressive due to lack of proper direction. Overall, could not justify the earlier Aashiqui.
The music of Aashiqui 2 is really good but putting eleven songs in a 152 minutes film is not at all intelligence as it seems too musical. A good story presentation could helped a little more.
