Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has stated that health services in the Capital city are much better than all other major cities and states. The government has decided to commission a 800-bedded DSCI (South) at Chhatarpur. She was addressing during inauguration of Delhi State Cancer Institute (West) centre at Janakpuri Super-speciality Hospital.
On the occasion, Dikshit mentioned that her government would commission two more such centres in South at Chhatarpur and North at Alipur as there is a need to make available cancer-care facilities in all parts of the Capital city.
The DSCI at Dilshad Garden, a world-class Cancer Institute, has been providing the latest cancer-treatment to the patients. The DSCI has been situated in extreme East in the city, hence, the city government decided to open its branches.
On the occasion, Delhi Health Minister Dr Ashok Kumar Walia stated that cancer has become curable. The case of famous cricketer Yuvraj Singh testifies this very fact. The incident of cancer is rising rapidly in the country.
He said that the main causes are tobacco, diet, life styles, changing demographic profile, control of infective diseases/malnutrition. The cases of cancer are likely to double up in next 10 years.
