Rahul Bose runs for underprivileged children in Kolkata Half Marathon

Bollywood actor Rahul Bose, who usually participates in most of the marathon and social awareness running program, today participated in ' Kolkata Half Marathon, the Royal Bengal Run ' along with hundreds of residents of kolkata held for underprivileged children.

This Kolkata Half Marathon was kicked off, at Red Road here, where young boys and girls participated for the noble cause.

Bose and few other actors like Jishu Sengupta, and Saheb Bhattacharya, Arijit Dutta were present at the event to promote the cause.

Meanwhile, in Siliguri, a large number of residents participated in a marathon aimed at spreading environmental awareness.

Organisers said the objective of this run was to join hands with the local population to create awareness for the need to protect and preserve the state's environment with a message of clean and green environment. Around 10000 people from all walks of life participated in the marathon.

The 20-kilometer long marathon was organized by the North-Bengal festival committee as a part of the festival in association with a local club.

Participants lauded the efforts of the organisers that would greatly help in conservation of environment.

"I am feeling very nice after participating in the marathon in Siliguri, I am extremely excited. Through this marathon, I want to give the message that we need to control the pollution in the country and should preserve environment," said.

Talking to the mediapersons, Vikran Sareen, an organiser of the event said that it's an effort to draw attention of people towards the preservation of the environment.

"It is a huge marathon, we would like to send our message that this marathon will promote healthy culture, and health sports events for better Bengal tomorrow," said.

For the past few years, there has been a growing concern among political leaders as well as academics and activists over the increasing threat posed to environment due to global warming, pollution and industrialisation.
