International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its Test and ODI team of the Year 2013. Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made it in both of the list. Besides Dhoni, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan and Ravindra Jadeja have also found a place in these teams.
Both the sides were chosen by a specially appointed selection panel chaired by the ICC Cricket Committee chairman and former India captain Anil Kumble. Kumble was joined on the panel by former Pakistan fast bowler and captain Waqar Younis, former England captain and wicketkeeper Alec Stewart, former South Africa batsman and current Hall of Famer Graeme Pollock, and former New Zealand women's player Catherine Campbell.
Performances over Aug 7, 2012 to Aug 25, 2013 were considered before selecting the team.
While Dhoni and Cheteshwar Pujara were picked for the Test team, Ashwin was named as the 12th man.
England captain Alastair Cook leads the ICC Test team, in which he features for the third straight year.
South Africa's Dale Steyn has earned a place in the team for the sixth successive year. Australia's Michael Hussey made the cut though he retired from international cricket in January.
Dhoni has been named captain of the ODI Team. It also features Dhawan and Jadeja. Dhoni has featured in the list for the sixth consecutive year.
The side also includes Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, Dilshan and Lasith Malinga.
