U.S. says 'closely watching' direction of Pak talks with Taliban

Islamabad, Sat, 02 Nov 2013 ANI

Islamabad, Nov. 02 (ANI): The United States has said that they will continue to closely watch the peace dialogue between the Pakistani government and the Tehriek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but would refrain from defining the negotiations for them.

State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said that although the U.S. has a shared interest with Pakistan to end violence and bring peace and prosperity to the entire region, it won't get involved in any kind of dialogue or discussion between its government and the terrorist outfits, Dawn News reports.

Psaki said the U.S. is interested in "the talks, their scope and the outcome," but it remains an internal matter for Pakistan. (ANI)
