Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar will be honoured with a cricket club in his name on Nov 11 as the Mumbai Cricket Association has decided to keep the name of new Kandivli clubhouse after the cricket maestro.
"We shall name the Kandivli clubhouse after Sachin. The unveiling will be done there Nov 11 with both the teams of India and West Indies witnessing," newly-elected MCA president Sharad Pawar said here Tuesday.
Sachin, who will formally retire from test cricket next month, will be last seen playing his 200th test match on Nov 18, during the forthcoming second India-West Indies test match.
To be held on a grand scale, the Nov 11 function will mark the presence of eminent dignitaries, which includes Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N. Srinivasan, and all past cricketers from Mumbai who have played tests and Ranji Trophy matches.
Pawar added that the BCCI is likely to felicitate Sachin on Nov 14, 10 minutes before the much-awaited historic Mumbai test begins.
The Kandivli clubhouse will also showcase many photographers from the long cricketing career of Sachin, Pawar added.
