Talking to media, Dutt said that all prisoners are entitled to furlough. 53-year-old actor has been granted 14 days furlough for treatment of his leg.

He wanted to spend his time out of prison with his family, he added.

"I respect the law of the land. I respect the honourable courts of India. I am a law abiding citizen and will complete my parole and will report back," Dutt said.

"I want to request to the press that I have got some time which I want to spend with my family. I thank the press for its support. Thanks to all my fans and I love my fans," he added.

He is currently serving a 42-month sentence in connection with the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case.

Dutt is reportedly said to be experiencing pain because of blood clots in his legs. He also suffers from high blood pressure and wants to consult doctors while out on parole.

Dutt had applied for a 14-day leave of furlough last month as per the jail manuals.

Earlier, he had applied to the divisional commissioner, for 30-day parole to avail of medical treatment, as he has completed two years (as an under trial inmate and as a convict since May this year) in prison and is eligible to apply for parole.

Parole leave is granted only in cases of emergencies.

According to the jail manual, a convicted prisoner serving his jail term can avail of two options to seek temporary leave from the jail to visit his home, either parole or furlough.

Parole is granted in cases of emergencies, furlough is available as a right to the prisoner.
