Hollywood director of films like Top Gun and Days of Thunder, Tony Scott died after he jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles at 12.30pm local time on Sunday.
He was 68-year-old. Authorities found a suicide note in his car parked on one of the bridge's eastbound lanes.
Los Angeles Police Department, California Highway Patrol, firefighters and the coastguard then conducted a search using Sonar equipment and recovered the body at around 4.30pm.
His body was then taken to a dock in Wilmington where a county coroner confirmed the identity.
He has worked with A-list actors like Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Robert De Niro and Gene Hackman
He gave hits like Top Gun, Days of thunder, The Taking of Pelham 123, Beverly Hills Cop II, Man on Fire, The Last Boy Scout, Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide and True Romance.
Scott was married to Donna Scott and they had twin boys, Frank and Max.
