Maoist have set 5 April as a deadline for the release of Biju Janata Dal law maker Jhinka Hikara who is in their custody for the last 10 days. They have demanded to leave all the person who is in govt. custody and claimed that all the charges labeled against them are false. Maoist has sent their demand in audio messages.
Message was sent by a leader named Chandramouli and has claimed to be the secretary of the Andhra-Odisha border special zonal committee of Communist Party of India-Maoist.He has accused the govt. that it has arrested several activists of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) on false charges in Koraput and Malkangiri districts. Person has demanded govt. to release all of them however he has not gave the name of the person to whom they wanted release.
Accusing the government of arresting several activists of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) on false charges in Koraput and Malkangiri districts, the rebel leader asked the government to release all the people.
It is noted that the CMAS is an organization working in the southern parts of the state, including in the districts of Malkangiri and Koraput on tribal related issues. Police say the organization has Maoist support.
The rebels from a hilly area of Koraput district abducted Hikaka, who represents Laxmipur constituency in the assembly on March 24. (With inputs from IANS)
