For the release of two hostages from the clutches of Maoist, Odisha govt. is still busy in negotiations but no breakthrough has yet been achieved. Odisha home secretary has said that despite this, talk is in process and govt. is examining their demands.
State home secretary U N Behera has said that govt. will need time to secure release of an Italian Paolo Bosusco and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Jhina Hikaka.
Though Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has invited the Maoist-backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) to come forward for talks, the rebel outfit is yet to respond.
Meanwhile according to sources the Maoist who abducted Hikkara have ruled out the appointment of mediators for negotiations.
However govt. has left no hope for their secure release and still hoping that CMAS would come forward for talks as the demands made by the abductors of the 37-year-old MLA relate to demands made by them.
The abductors released Colangelo on March 25 as a goodwill gesture but another Italian citizen is still in their captivity. Hikaka was kidnapped on March 24 when he was returning home to Laxmipur from Koraput after a political meeting. (With inputs from ANI)
