Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has dismissed any rift between Defence Minister A.K. Antony and army chief General V.K. Singh. He said that such a speculation has nothing to do with the truth and there is no rift.
Mukherjee said that It has already been explained by the defence minister A. K. Antony on the floor that there is no difference between them.It is noted that on Friday Singh has sounded a sense of conciliatory and blaming rogue elements for perceived difference with the govt. On the other hand Defence Minister Antony has said that all the three army chiefs enjoyed the confidence of the govt.
The controversy started when the army chief alleged that he was offered a bribe to clear a defence deal. Also the leaked letter scandal appeared in which it was claimed that there is a gap in India's defence preparedness. The entire episode had created trouble for Defence Minister and opposition was demanding his resignation.
