Kapil Sibal inaugurates 20th World Book Fair New Delhi

Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal inaugurated 20th New Delhi world book fair. The inauguration ceremony was organized at Hamsadhwani Open Air theatre, Pragati Maidan. During his inauguration speech the Hon'ble Minster highlighted the importance of books.

While taking on beginning of this fair he said that the fair started in the year around Bangladesh war. The minister looked happy with the rising popularity of this fair and said that he will try to make this biennial fair annual. Emphasizing the importance of Indian English literature he said that Indian English literature is ranked third in the world after UK and US. In addition, around one-lakh books of different languages get published every year in India.

Shri Manoj Das Eminent Writer and Professor of English at Shri Aurbindo International University, Pondicherry presided over the function and Professor Mridula Mukherjee, Center for Historical Studies Jawaharlal Nehru University was guest of the honor. Noted historian Bipan Chandra was also present on this occasion.

This nine day long fair will be opened to the public from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm during this period. In this fair 2500 stalls will showcase books of 1300 exhibitors. Thirty publishers and organizers will also showcase their publication.
