Even before Sachin made it to International front, he had created much stir in the First Class cricket. And this was the reason he was inducted in Indian Cricket Team at the mere age of 16 to play against Pakistan.
Virat Kohli was not even born, Raina was 3-year-old while Dhoni, Gambhir and Yuvraj were 8, when Sachin was facing fierce attack of Wasim Akran, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan at Jinnah Stadium of Pakistan.
Though he could not score much in the series, there were few signs about the great batsmen he will become in coming years.
It took 79 ODIs for Sachin to score his first century and he scored it against Australia in the year 1994. India went on to win that match.
After that he never looked back. He shattered every record there were, he made many himself. Bowlers feared his arrival at crease, spinners like Shane Warne had nightmares of him and it looked that he was alone standing against whole team.
Gradually he climbed towards the greatness. He became little master to master blaster to Tondulkar.
Though everyone notices his batting only, but he is the only cricketer to take 154 wickets in ODI while scoring more then 10,000 runs.
To answer the Question that Sachin do not contribute in a team win: Sachin made 49 ODI centuries in which India won 34 times, 1 game was tied, 1 had No Result while India lost in just 13 matches.
His 10th ODI century came in the year 1996 against South Africa, 20th against Zimbabwe in 1998, 30th in 2001 against South Africa and 40th against West Indies in 2006. His last and 49th century came against Bangladesh in the year 2012.
One date that Sachin fans will never forget is 24 February 2010. Stadium was Captain Roop Singh Stadium of Gwalior and India was facing South Africa when the "Impossible was made Possible" by God. Sachin became the first men on the planet to score 200 runs in 147 balls hitting 25 fours.
Sachin achieved his dream of winning world cup in 2011. He has appeared in 6 world cups (most tied with Javed Miandad).
Sachin is, was and will be the most complete batsmen with perfect balance, composure, body weight, body balance, head position and various techniques of shot in his play.
He played 463 ODI matches (most by any, second is Sanath Jaysuriya with 445) scoring 18426 runs (most by any, second in Ricky Ponting with 13,704 runs).
In Sachin's 23 year old career many legendary cricketers like Ricky Ponting, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Shane Warne, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Brian Lara, Sanath Jaysuriya, Muttaiah Murlitharan, Glen McGrath, Shaun Pollock and many others came and went but Master stood.
Now time has arrived, Sachin has bid adieu to One Day International and soon he will be retiring from Test matches too. With him gone an era and so much cricket will disappear.
