Pakistan's National Assembly has asked the government of Pakistan with complete agreement for declaring Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old education campaigner as 'Daughter of Pakistan' as she has emerged to be a role model for all the girls across the world. Malala was shot by the Taliban while she was on the way to her home from school on October 9 this year.
The resolution was put forward by Pakistan Peoples Party's Robina Saadat Qaimkhani, who said that Malala had now become a role model for child education all over the world.
"This House gives great importance and significance to the sacrifice made by Malala Yousufzai for the sake of education. This House, therefore, recommends that Malala Yousufzai should be declared as Daughter of Pakistan," The News quoted Qaimkhani, as stating in the resolution.
Qaimkhani said struggle of Malala for promoting peace and education for girls certainly deserves applause and special recognition from the Parliament.
Malala was shot bu Taliban in the head and neck by the while she was returning to home from her school in Swat Valley on October 9. Taliban shot Malala as a 'punishment' for speaking up against the terror outfit and advocating girl's right to education.
Malala was taken to the UK for specialized treatment and is now said to be making good progress.
