Nearly half of CPC Central Committee members are newcomers

Beijing, Nov 14 (IANS) Nearly 50 percent of the new Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) are newcomers.

Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang were elected Wednesday into the new CPC Central Committee, reported Xinhua.

The CPC has over 90 years of history and more than 82 million members.

Hu Jintao, 69, Wu Bangguo, 71, Wen Jiabao, 70, Jia Qinglin, 72, Li Changchun, 68, He Guoqiang, 69, and Zhou Yongkang, 69, are not in the new Central Committee. They were members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
