Veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra dies at 80

Legendary director-producer Yash Chopra on Sunday died at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital at the age of 80 years.

Earlier, Chopra was admitted to the Bandra hospital on October 13 after being diagnosed with dengu.

The veteran filmmaker announced his retirement from movie direction last month after directing his last film as “Jab Tak Hai Jann” starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma which is to be released this Diwali on November 13.

Chopra served and dominated bollywood for over five decade as producer and director and gave bollywood some of its all time favorite blockbusters like Deewar, Trishul, Chandni, Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, Veer Zaara and others that are still loved.

Yash Raj Chopra was born on 27 September 1932 in Lahore, British India and began his career as an assistant director to I.S. Johar and his elder brother, B.R. Chopra and later became a successful Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer in Hindi cinema.
