Hyderabad, May 1 (ANI): Residents of Andhra Pradesh capital Hyderabad are in the grip of a heat wave, and many of them have said that they are forced to stay indoors to avoid the scorching sun.
Temperatures are hovering around the 40 degree Celsius mark since Monday.
Residents were seen moving through markets with their heads and faces covered with scarves. Some described the heat as unbearable.
"It's very hot here and as a precautionary measure, we had juice right now. We had come out to watch a movie. It's very hot here, it's unbearable," said Rajnish.
Roads wore a deserted look, as people preferred to stay indoors. Office goers were visible outside in a minority.
"I prefer cotton clothes mostly and we cover our head with cloth when we move out of the house and we are taking care of our health. The summer season will remain till May end, then in June when monsoon arrives, the weather will become cool," said Reshma.
People made a beeline for juice stalls and coconut water vendors to quench their thirst.
Weather officials have advised people not to step out between noon and 4 p.m., and advised all to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the heat wave. (ANI)
