Tehran, May 1 (IANS) Iran finished overall winners at the Asian Weightlifting Championships Tuesday.
Iran claimed the title with 501 points, followed by South Korea with 500 points and Kazakhstan 441 points.
On the last day of the championships, Iran's Behdad Salimi snatched the gold in the super heavyweight class.
The two-time world champion finished in first place by lifting 206kg in snatch, 245kg in clean and jerk and 451kg in total.
In the same category, another Iranian Sajjad Anoushiravani claimed the bronze medal with a total of 431kg behind South Korean Jeon Sang-Guen who lifted 437kg.
Iranian Sohrab Moradi won the gold medal in the 85kg class with a total of 388kg while his compatriot Kianoush Rostami won the silver with 383kg.
Sajjad Behrouzi Iran won the bronze in the 69kg with a total of 323kg. Shi Zhiyong and Liu Weihuang, both from China, won the gold and silver medals respectively.
Sohrab Moradi has been named the best lifter of the championships.
