Kabul, May 1 (Xinhua-ANI): An Afghan policeman was injured Tuesday morning when a roadside bomb struck a police van in the country's eastern province of Khost, a provincial official said.
"A wounded policeman has been admitted to a hospital in provincial capital Khost city this morning," head of provincial health department Amir Padshah Mangal told Xinhua.
"A police vehicle touched off a roadside bomb planted by Taliban along a road in Sabari District at about 8 a.m. local time, leaving a police force with the Afghan National Police (ANP) injured and damaging the police van,"said a police source in the Khost city, 150 southeast of capital city of Kabul.
In a separate development, two insurgents were killed and three others injured overnight during a clash in neighboring Kunar province, provincial police chief Hiwaz Mohammad Nazari said.
"An unknown number of militants stormed police check posts in Dangam district Monday night but the police repelled the attack, killing two militants and injuring three others in the district bordering Pakistan," Nazari told Xinhua on Tuesday.
Taliban militants fighting Afghan forces and some 130,000 NATO- led coalition troops have yet to make comments.
Afghan and NATO military officials said recently that impressive Taliban-led attacks would occur in the coming weeks and months as spring and summer, known as "fighting season", are drawing near. (Xinhua-ANI)
