Aarushi case: Nupur Talwar to stay in jail, bail order reserved

Ghaziabad, Tue, 01 May 2012 ANI

Ghaziabad, May 1 (ANI): Nupur Talwar will remain in the Dasna Jail for at least another day, after a Ghaziabad court reserved its order on her bail plea in connection with the murder case of her 14-year-old daughter Aarushi Talwar.

After hearing the arguments of the defence and the prosecution, the court decided to pronounce its order on Wednesday.

Neither Nupur, nor her husband Rajesh Talwar, who is also an accused in the murder case, were present in the court on Tuesday.

Earlier, in the sessions court, Nupur's lawyer Parakshit Luthra argued that interim bail should be granted to her because if she is jailed, it would affect her reputation. The lawyer said that bail should be granted till the time proper hearing of bail application was done while claiming that the CBI itself has said that it did not have enough evidence against her.

Her bail application before the special court was rejected following opposition from the CBI. She was sent to the Dasna Jail and spent Monday night there.

Dasna Jail Supritendant Viresh Raj Sharma had earlier said, "We don't have any order from the court to send her to the court today. If the order comes, we will send her. As far as her warrant is concerned, we will send her to the court on May 3 if she doesn't get the bail."

Earlier, the Ghaziabad court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Nupur after she failed to appear before a special CBI court despite a deadline given to her.

Nupur and Rajesh Talwar have been accused by the CBI of murdering their teenaged daughter Aarushi in May 2008.

Aarushi was found dead inside her Noida residence with her throat slit. The body of the Talwars' domestic servant Hemraj was recovered from the terrace the next day. (ANI)
