Three Indians advance in ITF tennis

Chennai, April 30 (IANS) India's Ashwin Vijayaraghavan, Saurabh Patil and Sidharth Rawat entered the second round in the MCC-SR Subramaniam ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament here Monday.

 

Vijayaraghavan outclassed Portugal's Bruno Pedrosa 6-0, 6-0, and Patil overcame compatriot Kunal Anand 7-5, 7-5, while Rawat progressed when fellow-Indian Vivek Shokeen retired with the former leading 7-6 (3), 2-0.

Singles: Andre Gaspar Murta (POR) bt Mark Vervoort (NED) 7-6(4), 6-2; Peter Goldsteiner (AUT) bt Abhijeet Tiwari (IND) 3-6, 7-6(3), 2-0 Ret; Ashwin Vijayragavan (IND) bt Bruno Pedrosa (POR) 6-0, 6-2; Saurabh Patil (IND) bt Kunal Anand (IND) 7-5, 7-5; Joss Espasandin (SUI) bt Y Vandenbulcke (BEL) 6-2, 6-4; Sidharth Rawat (IND) bt Vivek Shokeen (IND) 7-6(3) 2-0 Ret.

 

Doubles: Elwin Antony / Fariz Mohammed (IND) bt Neeraj Elangovan / Rishabdev Raman (IND) 7-5, 6-4; 3-N Sriram Balaji / Vignesh Peranamallur (IND) bt Ramkumar Ramanathan / Vinod Sridhar (IND) 6-4, 6-1; 2-Vijayant Malik / Kaza Vinayak Sharma (IND) bt Saurabh Patil (IND) / Matthieu Vierin (ITA) 6-2, 0-6, 10-4.
