Aarushi case: Khurshid refuses to comment on court order

New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): Hours after a CBI court rejected the bail plea of Nupur Talwar in connection with the murder of her teenaged daughter Aarushi, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid on Monday refused to comment on the matter, saying it's important that we adhere to the principle of sub-judice.

"I would not be able to speak on something that is completely sub-judice. Matter of criminal trials, we know traditionally one must not comment on them, no matter at what level and in which court it is because ultimately it's a question of justice prevailing and justice prevailing includes the rights of a citizen, who is accused of a serious or not serious offence," said Khurshid.

"We should not say anything at all that pre-judices their case and we should not say anything at all that persuades the court to think in one-way or another. I think it's important that we adhere to the principle of sub-judice," he added.

Nupur Talwar earlier today surrendered before a special CBI court following the Supreme Court directive to her to do so in connection with the twin murder case of her 14-year-old daughter and domestic help in Noida.

Nupur, who surrendered in the court of Special CBI Magistrate Priti Singh, was immediately taken into custody by the agency.

However, Nupur's counsel is expected to appeal against the court's order in the sessions court.

The CBI counsel had earlier in the day, opposed Nupur Talwar plea for bail, saying she was involved in Aarushi's murder case. It also gave several Supreme Court precedents to prove its point.

Nupur Talwar surrendered before a special CBI court here in Ghaziabad today, following which she was taken into custody.

Minutes after her surrender, Nupur's lawyers moved an application for bail.

The Supreme Court had on Friday asked Nupur to surrender before the Ghaziabad court refusing to stay the non-bailable arrest warrant against her, which was issued after she failed to appear before the Ghaziabad court.

Nupur and her husband Dr. Rajesh Talwar have been accused by the CBI of murdering their teenaged daughter Aarushi in May 2008.

Aarushi was found dead inside her Noida residence with her throat slit. The body of the Talwars' domestic servant Hemraj was recovered from the terrace the next day. (ANI)
