Jerusalem, Apr 29 (ANI): Former Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin has criticized Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak over the country's 'messianic political leadership', which is misleading the public on issues related to Iran.
"They are misleading the public on the Iran issue. They tell the public that if Israel acts, Iran won't have a nuclear bomb. This is misleading. Actually, many experts say that an Israeli attack would accelerate the Iranian nuclear race," The Guardian quoted Diskin, as saying.
He said that Netanyahu and Barack were not fit to run the country as they are raking up prospects of a military strike on Iran's nuclear programme.
Diskin, who retired as the head of the internal intelligence agency Shin Bet last year, made his comments at a meeting and claimed that he had "no faith" in the abilities of Netanyahu and Barak to conduct a war.
"My major problem is that I have no faith in the current leadership, which must lead us in an event on the scale of war with Iran or a regional war. I don't believe in either the prime minister or the defence minister. I don't believe in a leadership that makes decisions based on messianic feelings," the ex-Israeli spy chief said. (ANI)
