London, Apr 29(ANI): Manchester United winger Luis Nani has said it would be a matter of shame if the club fails to win the Premier League this season, and believes the players would be entirely responsible for it.
United's title rivals Manchester City had fallen eight points behind them, but will go to the top on goal difference, with two games left, if they beat them during the potentially title deciding Manchester Derby on Monday.
Nani admitted that it would be a catastrophe if United finishes the season without winning a trophy.
"We've been careless in recent games and only have ourselves to blame for being in this position. We should have been going to City with an unassailable lead. But, instead, we are facing a very difficult game with everything at stake," The Sun quoted Nani, as saying.
"Shame on us. There is no excuse. A year without a title for a club like Manchester United would be a very bad year for everyone at the club. It would be a disaster," he added. (ANI)
