Lightning kills 6 in Howrah district

Howrah (West Bengal), April 29 (IANS) Six people were killed and 10 others were seriously injured after they were struck by lightning in Pancharul vaillage in West Bengal's Howrah district, police said Sunday.

'Six people were killed and 10 others have been seriously injured after they were struck by lightning. The lightning struck when they were returning after taking part in an idol immersion procession. The injured have been admitted to a hospital,' an officer of Udaynarayanpur police station under which the incident happened, said.

Of the injured, the condition of three people is said to be serious. The bodies of the dead have been sent for post mortem.
