Kolkata, April 29 (IANS) In spite of the city's favourite son Sourav Ganguly leading the Pune Warriors India against them, Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir hopes Kolkatans will root for his team in the crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) game to be played at the Eden Gardens May 5.
"The way we have played, I think Kolkata (Knight Riders) will get a lot of support from the people. It's Kolkata's team... No other team belongs here. For me, it is KKR versus Pune Warriors. We play to bring smiles on the faces of the people of Kolkata. It's not about playing against individuals," Gambhir said about the upcoming game.
The skipper had words of praise for the big hitting Yusuf Pathan who is yet to come good for the Knight Riders in the tournament.
"He (Yusuf) is one of the biggest match winners India has ever seen. I've lot of confidence in him that he is going to win two-three games for us. It's just a matter of time that he would do something magical for us."
Gambhir, who played a classy 93 to fashion a thumping 47-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Saturday, however, warned his team against complacency.
"I am not someone who keeps sitting on laurels. To be honest, with the attack we have, we should have bowled the opposition out. That is one thing maybe we want to rectify. That could have been more convincing," said Gambhir about last night's victory over RCB.
