London, Apr 28(ANI): Essex batsman Ravi Bopara is expected to bat at the No. 6 position for England in the first Test match against the West Indies, starting on May 17.

Bopara, who has played 12 Test matches so far, has been left out of England's A team for their four-day game against the Windies at Northampton, starting on May 10.

He scored three consecutive centuries against the Windies in 2009 before a poor Ashes series that year got him axed, The Sun reports.

Eoin Morgan was originally preferred last summer, but the decline in his form against Pakistan during the winter should have give Bopara a chance to bat up once more.

But to Bopara's frustration, a side strain prevented him from bowling, allowing Samit Patel to make his debut in Sri Lanka.

England takes on the Windies in the three-Test Investec series starting at Lord's on May 17. (ANI)
