Karachi, Apr 28(ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf has said that the Pakistan League will not be a copy of the Indian Premier League and added the oard is eager to capture investments from the Indian market for the tournament.
"This is a wrong impression. We are working on delivering an innovative and exciting Pakistan Premier League (PPL) but it will not be on the exact model of the IPL. We are not going to call it PPL as some people have been suggesting for quite some time now. We are still in the process of finalising a name that is good enough for what will be an innovative and exciting league," The Daily Times quoted Ashraf, as saying.
He said that Indian broadcasting company Nimbus was one of several companies interested in becoming a part of the proposed league.
Two other companies, including Ten Sports and a United Kingdom- based firm had made presentations to the PCB about the league.
Sources said the board officials were, however, unimpressed with the presentation of the UK based company.
"We have had several presentations and many people are promising to deliver a lot but we have to ensure the model we follow is viable for us financially, and secondly it allows us to tap the international market," a PCB official said. (ANI)
