Cooper hopes to carry on his good form against Daredevils

Delhi,Sports, Sat, 28 Apr 2012 IANS

New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) Rajasthan Royals pacer Kevon Cooper, who has been one of the finds of the season, hopes to carry on his good form when the 2008 champions face table toppers Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium here Sunday.

The rookie West Indian is one of the leading wicket takers in the tournament with 10 scalps from five matches. The 23-year-old Trinidadian has played a key role in Rajasthan Royals resurgence this year.

Cooper said Rajasthan, who are now fifth in the league with eight points from eight matches, are looking to bounce back from their 46-run loss against Royal Challengers in their last match.

"We are looking back to bounce back from defeat. Boys have got four days rest, so we are looking to get back to playing cricket. Guys are ready," he said after a training session here Saturday.

Cooper is well aware of table toppers Daredevils' form this season, but also knows that things in IPL can change quickly.

"Delhi has played exceptionally well but cricket is a funny game. It is going to be tough but we have a very good team. Hopefully we can beat them and get back to winning ways," he said.

Cooper said the five-day break since their loss to Royal Challenger helped the players reflect upon their performance.

"Guys had time to think about performance in the break. We need to win more games. We are looking forward to winning against Delhi," he said.

Asked about his performance, Cooper said: "It is a dream for me to be playing in IPL. Ten wickets in five games dint expect this at all. Hopefully I can carry on the good run."

Cooper also said that playing under Rahul Dravid has also helped him a lot.

"He is one of the greatest players. I am getting to learn a lot from him. He is a cool guy and a very good captain," he said.

Cooper hoped that the return of Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, who is expected to join the squad soon, will boost the confidence of Rajasthan Royals.

"Waiting for Shane watson to arrive. He is a great player but its a long flight from West Indies so I doubt he will play," he said.
