New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) Afghanistan Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul will arrive here Monday on a three-day visit to India during which the two sides will discuss the future of their bilateral relations.
Rassoul, who is coming here at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, will co-chair the first session of the India-Afghanistan partnership council along with his Indian counterpart, according to the ministry of external affairs here.
The council was established under the strategic partnership agreement that was concluded between the two countries during the visit of Afghan President Hamid Karzai to India in October last year.
The inaugural session of the partnership council will be preceded by a meeting of the joint working group on political and security consultations headed jointly by Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai and Afghanistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin.
During his stay here, Rassoul will also call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon.
"The visit forms part of the high-level engagement between the two countries and provides an opportunity for both countries to review and consolidate the implementation of their strategic partnership," the external affairs ministry said.
