Imphal, Apr 28 (ANI): Manipur police on late Thursday night has arrested three militants of banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK- Progressive). They were accused of throwing a grenade at the residence of a local doctor.
Speaking to mediapersons here, senior police officials informed that the militants have confessed to the grenade attack at the residence of Dr. Modhubala Devi. The attack had left two people injured.
"Manipur police was trying to find the culprit or anything else regarding this matter and out of this effort yesterday late night, we started one commando operation in the area and we have nabbed three persons," said AK Jhalajit Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police.
The militants had demanded money from the doctor, when she did not respond they attacked her, he informed, adding that the militants might target other residents of the city.
Chinese grenades and a letter demanding $9,531 from a local organisation were seized from their possession.
"After nabbing them recovered another two hand grenades," Singh informed.
Separatist movements have long riddled northeast region with Manipur being one of the most troubled areas. Other military outfits reportedly active in the area include the Military Council faction of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP- MC), People's United Liberation Front (PULF), People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA).
