London police arrest three for naming footballer Evans' rape victim on Twitter

London, Apr 27 (ANI): Following that sentencing of Sheffield United player Ched Evans on charges of rape, messages have been posted on Twitter revealing the identity of his victim. North Wales Police has arrested three persons following an investigation.

They confirmed that two men were arrested under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Amendments Act, while another male was arrested on suspicion of sending malicious communication.

"These arrests were made with the assistance of South Yorkshire Police and are part of a series of planned arrests we will be making during this ongoing investigation," Sky News quoted Detective Chief Inspector Steve Williams, as saying.

All three have been detained by South Yorkshire Police at a Sheffield police station where they will be interrogated.

Evans was sentenced to jail for five years on April 20 after being convicted of raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room near Rhyl, London. (ANI)
