Clarke 's spell dampens Windies' hopes of pulling off stunning Dominica Test win

Dominica , Fri, 27 Apr 2012 ANI

Dominica, Apr 27(ANI): Australian captain Michael Clarke claimed the key wicket of West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul leg before wicket for 69 and extinguished any hope of the Windies pulling off a stunning victory on the fourth day of the Dominica Test.

The Windies will resume on the last day on 5-173, and need to score 197 runs needed to overhaul Australia's formidable victory target of 370, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Both Chanderpaul and Bravo added 110 runs for the fourth wicket, but their late dismissals have dashed hopes of a thrilling climax to the series.

Clarke captured three wickets, but Nathan Lyon failed to recapture the venom in the first innings.

The Australians were earlier dismissed for 259.

Off- spinner Shane Shillingford finished with 4-100 in the second innings and his first ten wicket haul in a Test. (ANI)
